Looking good but how the hell are you going to get to the free spool ****? Gunna clock it?
I've got an idea for it, but ill have to wait until I mock the winch up in there to know if the placement will work

Could just extend the free spool handle out through the bumper.

You're rig is rad, your jeep isn't TOO far ahead of mine, but still awesome, so it keeps me motivated. I'm also broke all the time, but when I get the chances, I always do something. my favorite bumper out there!

You obviously have a different winch than I do. Mine rotates 180 degrees. That'd never work for mine.

I say you just need to run your arm down between the fans and the engine to turn it.

I'm also going to be building a hidden winch like this and I'm not a fan of big access holes in the bumper. Has anyone thought about using a push pull cable and remote lever kinda like a shifter? Shoot, might even mount it in the cab. My co pilots hate having to walk all the way back to the jeep just to re-engage the spool.

Yea, im not going to cut a hole in the bumper for it.

I was considering some sort of lever or push-pull switch. But the lever needs to rotate 180* between spool/engaged. So I'm drawing a blank on an effective way to achieve this.

That's true. I was thinking they were only 90* between engaged and free spool. Interested to see what you come up with.

Clock it so that it points at 5 oclock. That way you can reach under the bumper and turn it...

So I might Be starting to over think things, but what about a 180* electric rotary solenoid? Or I could take the winch apart and see how it actually locks in internally. Might be simpler then that.
