Gear basket fab
I am looking to fab a gear basket for the top of my 98 cherokee 4 door. I was wondering which dimensions you guys think would be good and what metal to use? my roof is currently naked so should i buy some factory racks to put on from chrysler or should i attach it some other way? This is my first post and will be my first build thanks for any help.

Here's what I did. Just copied from my build. I used 1" 1/8 wall square tube mounted to the stock roof rack mounting feet. This thing is super solid!!!
Did a little work yesterday before the trip out to Wharton today. Finally finished up my roof rails to mount the rack more solidly.
Got some 1"x1" press in fitting to put in the ends of the tubing.
Then bed lined them and pressed in the ends.
Then just mounted the feet to the tubing and here's what they look like.
I'll get some daytime pictures installed tomorrow after I clean it up from today.
