and a pic of the beveled shock mount. i did this to get a better weld on it

and welded on my welds are not the best but the mount is super beefey.

i welded both sides of the mount so it wont bend or break. and i am leaving the center open because the bottom of the shock sites in it. i only raised the mount by about 3/4 of and inch. so this was a super easy and super cheap mount. and if i can do it anybody can

i got this for the rear. so i am set for the rear. http://www.quadratec.com/products/16030_1100.htm

I assume you want to mount the front shock lower?

Cut the current shock mounting off and then make your self some brackets like A1Racer has and weld them on just above there the lower link mounts to the axle tube

i did some fake flexing and some street driving and they are holding super strong. they will get a real test on the 27th when i do the johnbull run in arrowhead. if that don't break them they never will.

if you cut out the area i put mine on there is the lower control arm mount you could weld them to it and you would gain about a inch more room for a longer shock. but as it sits this only raised mine about 1/2 or maybe a tad more but i needed the down travel anyway so that was why i made them like i did.

you know the more i look at it i might do a cross brace near the bottom of the two uprights for that bit of extra support thanks for the idea

good idea. needs to be braced, those will eventually bend etc. with the upwards (i.e. forward and back too) travel of the suspension

interesting. you can't really make a shock travel more than it does that way though. new shocks would then be in order.

if you want more suspension travel (articulation or full droop), you raise the shock mounts and bumpstop accordingly

I disagree. If you run a longer shock, you get half of the extra length in functional travel and ultimately more droop also.

a shock's travel is a shock's travel is what I am saying. you cannot extend the travel of a shock, because it was with X amount of extended length and Y amount of compressed length.

that said, if you wanted to increase the travel of the suspension, but use the same shocks, you would raise the shock mounts, so you don't limit the suspension droop. then bump-stop accordingly so you don't wreck your shocks on up-travel.
