I would built the main platform with the ladder that attaches to it, but on each side of the platform I would put 3 1.5 inch pieces of pipe with a hole drilled through both sides of each pipe ,then 3 1 inch pipes as tall as your Jeep, have them lock into the 1.5's with a bolt, so that way it isn't relying solely on the jeeps roof, and than I'd personally put a hitch adapter to it so you could strap the ladder and pipes onto the platform and carry it with your hitch

Welcome thumper_96, genuinely mean it. Take the following in good humor, no insult intended. You have done the typical newb move, and revived a VERY dead thread. It's always funny, no exceptions.
I am curious though, what lead to the revival? I assume a search of the forum ran you into this thread? Then you replied before reading the dates of the other posts?
As a side note, now I will be googling shark fishing from roof top of Suburban.
