OOOooo...add 2 more hinges, have 2 ladders!!!!!!! Cross mount between two ladders for spare but you can still climb up either side! Could even use one ladder to climb and the other to help load and unload heavy things from the roof when the spare isn't on!!!!!
Edit: heck you could make it carry 2 spares then and look like those Aussie overlanders!!! hahaha

Thanks man!
Thanks! DO IT! Making your own setup is so much more rewarding and you know how these Cherokee's can be - not all parts fit the same...
Before you get carried away adding a bunch of ladders, do know (just like a swing out carrier I guess) it's already an extra step to get into the back hatch. Lift assist is a MUST for daily use and it can be a little confusing for others trying to help you load.
I still haven't made the spare mount bracket nor anything for decking the top. I need to get back on it, but had to do brakes and axle u-joints. Now I've got a window regulator and door lock actuator to sort. The Jeep doesn't let you "play" too long before wanting/needing parts; lol.
Still on the lookout for that perfect deck material....

This is awesome! Now you mentally spent my monies on a tube bender instead of upgrades...Thanks IMO this is much better/safer than a hatch mounted even reinforced like the other company does. Ever flexed a cherokee now you have trouble opening and closing the hatch? Yeah I have frame stiffeners to install...lol. OOOooo...add 2 more hinges, have 2 ladders!!!!!!!
