Default A different kind of steel fender flare

Okay guys I just started making a custom set of fender flares for my xj. Don't feel like paying 400 fr bushwackers right now lol. So this is my current solution in progress. Still need to skin the top but wanted to get everyone's thoughts!

Quite similar to an idea I've been floating on, they look nice so far, I'm sure it's not as strong as the tube based style, but still pretty cool and different from what you typically see.

What's the material thickness you used?

Now I'm subscribed to see how the end result on a full set is lol.

Yeah they won't be as strong as tue but surprisingly strong! The plates are 14 gauge with with 1 inch square tubes connecting them. Nice part is you can set the width easily!!

So when you rub a tree hard with them, Which do you think will give first. The flair or the fender?

Badass!!! Bushwhackers are just cheap plastic and they crush. It seems like everyone is armoring their fenders to!!!! I just made a fabrication thread about mine. Check it out if you need ideas on reinforcing them. I have mine tired to the bumper and into the sliders. I can jack my jeep up from my fender!!

Well I will be making some as soon as I buy a welder next month I think I would like to make them thinner and add a tube to the outside just to smooth them up but thank you very much for the idea now I won't spend $360 for bushwhackers yay

I like those... I would taper them into the body at the top edge for aesthetics, and tie them into the bumper and rocker you've got going for strength. But they do look good! and seems like a decent investment for such a small amount of plate. paint em up and show us a battle scar, that xj is too damn clean Haha!
