How did you mount this? How heavy is it?

It's still huge but it looks MUCH better after the "alteration". I was just about to suggest doing that but you beat me to it.

Mounted with 6 bolts to the frame where the original bumper mounts used to be. I believe the bumper is right around 100 pounds.

Bummer, you should have used more mounting points. Your bumper probably won't bend much in an impact, but all that energy has to go somewhere. Your frame rails are going to look like Ruffles.

This is my third bumper using C-channel. I built a 1989 bronco II's bumper out of 12" tall C-channel in high school. If anyone thinks my cherokee is overkill or huge with 8" C-channel I should post the bronco II's bumper. Haha. The bronco II was all square no cut corners. After the bronco II I built one for a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder with 6" C-channel which I cut the corners and placed slanted metal at the base of the bumper and corners.

Are you saying to extend further back down the frame?

Incorporate the steering box bolts and unused holes on the passenger side.

My bumper is bolts in with 12 bolts. 6 per side.

It's a must! It will also help stiffen the front up a little

Yup. Mine has 7 to each side. Noticeable effect on steering responsiveness and definitely makes it feel more solid
