Hi fellow Cherokee affictionatos I am new to the site and have been lurking for awhile. I have seen several ideas you guys have had for cup holders and here is my solution to not having cup holders in my 1992 Cherokee Laredo. I on;y got this photo on the post, but have others in my album. Still learing how to do the post and attach pics.

i dont have the cupholder problem but thats bad ***!

Clever idea. Not a bad use of ingenuity!

I got a old piece of aluminum diamond plate and used a cardboard template of the console and used an angle grinder to cut it out. I then boleted teh hinge and cup holder on it. This baby will hold (2) 44 oz cups without a problem.

I took a piece of 3" tubing 2" long and capped the bottom. I then took a 2 and 15/16 hole saw drilled down as deep as the hole saw would allow. Took a die grinder for the lateral cut to finish removing the plastic. I then debured the plastic and reinstalled the console. I used a slightly smaller holesaw than the dia. Of tubing to make for a very tight fit.

because very few cups fit in there. i have that too. and pretty much only 12oz. cans and small drinks fit in there.

Very cool idea ... but I'd be wary of having liquids spill down in that area. I don't remember what all is under there, but I do recall that there is wiring for the shifter, bulbs & the like.

There isn't much under there, I have power mirrors so the wires for the controls run right down the middle, also there is a molded plastic piece of duct that follows the contours on the right side.

Im 30 years old, I don't spill very often!

I'm older ... and you come down off a rock hard enough ... and anything can happen.

Previous experience has taught me not to wheel with open containers!

Anywayz, don't mean to derail the thread. Anything is possible. And I repeat, the mod is excellent.

Are you being serious? You dont open it in the first place!

I guess I'm weird because i dont have to constantly be drinking a beverage while wheeling.

Give it a rest will you? Yes, I'm serious. I don't drink soda 'cause I don't like the fizz, so I wouldn't be familiar with those. But I'm sure every soda drinker always carries those thingies around ... just in case.
Like I said things happen ... including spills. You don't drive with an open container, but many people do & they spill drinks every day in vehicles, wheeling or not. It happens. This is not a big deal, just a random comment to be careful.

Can we move on now?

There's a cupholder that goes on the passenger side of the console. Its oem and I've got a picture of it in my pictures. Put a screw in the side and it holds two 44oZ cups no prob. And never gets in the way

Lol that looks exactly like the one that goes on the console, oz it the same one?

It is the same one ... just relocated. Wonder if I could put one there? I do have a spare ...

Yeah ... I checked ... wouldn't work there for me. My legs get in the way. Plus I forgot that my equalizer is mounted under that location. 'S okay ... I already have room for 3 cups.

I like A lot of these haha. Personally, I took the cup holder off my bike and bolted it to my middle dash bezel ( the radio ect one). Imo, cheapest and easiest solution, Holds a soda can perfect and my iPhone cradles nice too. I'll put up a pic tomorrow haha.

I'm confused, why did you want 3 cupholders up front, you have a 2001 which means you have 2 between the seats. good idea tho and I'd put it there as well IF I didn't have the console holders...

Well I use one for my phone... And the rear one only fits a can if soda, nothing else fits nice. And the front one is really big. So the bike one holds a can or bottle of soda quite nicely

Here's my cup holder. It'll hold a sweet tea from mickey ds. That's the biggest I can fit powerade kinda.

I found it in my garage. I'm pretty sure I've seen em at a truck stop tho.

I really like that one!! Maybe I'll put those on my rear door panels for my passengers haha
