Building an Gas Tank Skid
Ok i figure i should build everything all at once
I gone thur at least 3 gas tanks and i had it buying them
Its more of a pic post
Its only like 40% done will do more friday

Top the sides of the hitch and side out the unibody rails it will be mounted with six bolts. stay tuned
Yeah it what my year xj comes with. I cant find a plasic gas tank. There will be a space between the skid and tank

Nice start.. I gotta build one soon, and a rear bumper.
I think he meant "I've gone through 3 tanks and I'm sick of buying them"...
My plan is to have a lip on the bottom of the rear bumper that will tie all the way down and into a gas-tank skid plate. I'm trying to figure out a way to hide the bolts that would be under the bumper so they don't get smashed and mangled on rocks. Sort of like a double lip or recessed bolt holes to hide the bolt heads.
Keep us updated, I want to see it finished And lots of pics!

Here some more pics
Working on the mounting brackets now. As you can see its not fully welded yet. I dont fully weld till it complete. But its welded together with lots 1 - 2 inches of bead

It hung on its mounts
Its only tacked up at the moment want to get it hung. still have a ton of sstuff to do
