The position of yours (green XJ) make it harder based on leverage so I see it now working as well. His (white XJ) seems to have a better leverage point. I want to do the same type thing. Thanks for all the info.

I'm not sure if "backwards" is the best way to describe my orientation since none of these were ever intended to on here is the first place. Mine will only assist you in opening the hood unit there is about 20% left, then the shocks take it the rest of the way; not to mention mine can't be in the best of shape since they look to be original Nissan parts off a 10+ year old car. I knew the orientation wouldn't provide the best leverage advantage but I was trying to use the brackets that came off the Infinity and I was trying to avoid using self tapping screws in sheet metal; they're putting a lot of force into those brackets. After watching how strong those lift his hood its clear they have a better leverage advantage. Either the case, no more hood prop and they work great for a $25 modification.

There is no right or wrong way to do this mod. I's basically just what works. We learn from everyone on here. I am glad other people are doing this mod as well.

I didn't really mean he did it wrong, just that he installed it kinda backwards to how I did it

True. His geometry was making the shocks function harder to do the same job. It's all good though.

Ya, same difference. That Infinity hood I took these off of makes our hatch, without shocks, feel light; lol.

The factory hatch feels like a ton of lead when the shocks are worn out. New shocks sure help but I have taken a few to the noggin when the hatch came down unexpectedly. :jester:
