Man I like that!
On the galvanized...the best way to get around the gasses is not to breathe them! I've used a fan to move welding fumes for a long time! That and hold your breath helps too!

very nice roof rack, i really like the lights, ive seen lights up there quite a bit, and never thought it looked good, but thats pretty right there. seems kinda big though compared to what i usually see, still nice rack.
thanks you all, I have made about 7 of them now, selling them to locals, even the one off my own Cherokee I sold. If I do not sell my Cherokee I am going to make another I actually cut the size down to be a little more low profile.

Very nice work, and looks great too!
The tire mount looks strong enough, but doesn't seem to be mounted to the rack very well.
3/4" EMT is not really strong enough to take that kind of stress. (EDIT) Just at that one intersection.
In the event of a sudden stop, it may rip itself loose. it would possibly become a dangerous projectile.
Maybe you could add some more EMT in that area, or better yet, some light angle iron or square tubing.
I'm not trying to put your work down, just don't want to see anything bad happen. I felt like you may not have seen what I see.

Do you have any close ups of those gutter mounts? I'll be fabing some up soon. I just want to get a feel for what people are doing.
I dont have any closeups anymore because I sold the Jeep.
Buckshot, What I did to re-enforce the tire mount is I took the EMT and grinded it out the width of the 1/4" stock steel from the EMT (Green area on the pic) and put the 1/4" steel in the grinded out part and welded it flush with the EMT, it has a lot of strength and I had it on there when I had to make an emergency stop (45mph to a skidding stop), never budged. I also welded the seem by the cross bar (red area).

The hi-boy would be mounted by two bolts that are welded through the EMT and has a angles flat stock with a HD butterfly nut to hold it in place. it is very similar to the Hi-Lift jack mounts that are all over online.
