Default 97+ front end/dash swap on a 89 Cherokee

so a buddy of mine has a 91 comanche and he swapped on a 99 (i think) front end and interior dash... while I didnt like the thought of this at first, but it looked pretty decent and has all the features that a 99 cherokee has interior wise.

i dont have any pictures at the moment but i was wondering how hard would the swap be? i was told by my buddy he cut the firewall and placed the new wirings/hoses etc in place. anyone else have a front end swapped on their rig? i own a 89 cherokee

Cutting firewall holes aint hard. Its the OBDII computer thay worries me. Its a 91, so he can probably leave some things off. Wow I have all these extra parts now! lol

Mine with the 01 front clip. I went a head and did the doors also so the front windows are a full window instead of being split. The front clip is easy Its a 1.5 on a scale of 1-10. doors suck, aligning them is hard as heck and i still havent got the wiring done yet (I have back doors on now to)

The dash, did your buddy also swap in the 1999+ motor and trans? I am not do in the dash on mine because it would get super expensive to try and make the newer cluster work with my old sensors, ie it wouldnt and i would have to buy all new sensors.

almost all the interior is pretty close to bolting up besides the dash and seats. I am not sure about door panels as i swaped whole doors

i have a front clip swap, but the interior is a little too much work to me. I'd sell it and buy a newer one.

If you don't paint it to match it's that easy. If you take the time to make it match it's obviously more involved than just bolting on a few panels.

paint isnt that hard. im just lazy and have alot of other mods/body work before i do it.

I got a gallon of PPG Hot Rod black (matte black) ready and waiting for me to get off my butt

I decided not to do the dash swap cause mine was not the HO... and I wasn't about to swap motor and tranny and everything... older style has cable speedometers where newer one has electronic... and its not just swapping out the dash... every AC part has to be swapped... wire harness... recharge ac when done... run the newer computer... steering column... tranny... motor... EVERYTHING... and its not worth that to me... I am swapping in 99 black leather bucket seats and center console though... that's enough work as it is... oh and if you swap the front end you'll Need the brackets that the front of the fenders bolt up to... there different then the older style...
