i honestly thought about that actyually... but im still a little scared to put too many holes and cuts into my baby haha
ehst ive been thinkin is if i take off the luggage rails. it would allow the rack to sit lower and closer to the roof, and then i could just weld up some sorta mount to those or to the gutters ( i want somethin that aint gonna budge.. with the early season snow storm we just got,\.. trees are low and down everywhere... i just dont wanna have anythin movin' about up there

I'll see if have any pictures of it on my phone. It wasn't too bad actually, I was freaking out when I first started but it all turned out okay.

-if I don't post any pictures tonight then there's none on my phone and I remember too, I'll snap some tomorrow and post 'em up.

I didnt have a stock rack thing so I just drilled mine in where I saw fit.
But you could probably just use the stock holes?

mount it to the gutter. its very strong and you dont have to drill any hole. i just used a piece of flat steel i think 1/8th from lowes. bent the bottom into a L to hold the rack from coming up and welded the back piece to the rack and bolted them together to pinch the gutter. simple and strong. doesnt move a wink when i jump around on the jeep loading and unloading crap.

I was gonna do that, but it scratched the HELL out of it and I took it off.

And I also with mine cause personality I thought It was stronger, but theyre both good options.

Save yourself trouble later.
Pull those nuts and add some larger Fender washers.
Top and bottom, that will spread the weight over a larger area and prevent those 1/2" nuts from fatiguing the through the sheet metal.

Its through 1x1 tubing, then on the bottom, a washer, 1/8 metal plate, washer. Thanks for the advice
