So, i'm trading the XJ for a TJ in about 2 or 3 days, but it's only coming with a safari top and half doors. I want to know if a soft top for a YJ would fit on a TJ? I know that some people have made a hard top fit by doing some modifying up front, but i would think a soft top would be easier to customize and make fit. The XJ is my first jeep, so i have no experience with wranglers, any ideas would be great! I'm also looking at getting a new half-top from this website...

as far as i know, nope. yj top will fit a cj, but not tj.

tj has the lip on the top of the tub for the top to slip in. yj does not.

also, not sure if the family bar yj has the frame tabs either.

i didn't really own a yj that i drove. had one for a project, but never got around to it and just sold it. but i remember my friend once tried to figure out the differences and as i recall, the main thing was the lip along the top of the tub for the plastic on the top to fit into.

but don't take my word for it, next time you're near a yj, look for it.

 

Nope they dont fit. I had a YJ before my XJ and the mounts are different. Your better off just going to buy a TJ top or you could just go with a halftop which is cheaper but you cant people in the back.
