Hey guys. I have a base model 07 KJ. I had a 96 XJ and much preferred the look of the flat hood and square lights. I noticed the Renegade had a flat style hood. Now I know from my XJ endeavors most trim level related part swaps were direct un-bolt old, bolt-on new. It appears to me that the only differences are the hood and front grille. Any one do this swap? I want to know for sure if it will bolt up before I hit up the junk yard. Thanks.

 

No dice? Anyone have a KJ renegade with the flat top grill/ hood? If you have any pics of the latch assembly/ grill mount locations that'd be great. I wanna make sure I grab all the parts to do the swap so I don't get half way through and have a "oh !" moment and have to re-assemble it all and make a second trip.

I know the GEN I Libbys should all swap parts..

And I know there was a front end design change..

I'd say a hood grill swap is all it would take..

 

From what I can tell this may have been a 2005 sheetmetal change for the Renegade.

I'm unsure since I have the bug eye style on top, and the hood release lever you need to push once you open it from inside the jeep, is right above the top of the grill. If it's the same on the renegade the lever should be a good 3 or 4 inches higher and my release lever and its support are part of the whole front support housing the radiator, fan, etc. Since it's still under warranty I was hoping for strictly a body panel swap vs a partial front end tear down and swap.

 

I'd say take some measurements and head to the junkyard. Maybe parts match up...
