Due to rising gas prices and my lust for another bike I picked up this bad boy for a deal. She is SUPER clean 2003 GSX-R 750.

i tried to justify buying a motorcycle to save money on fuel, but buying the bike, the added insurance and licensing cost, only being able to ride it for a few months a year,... blew that out of the water,... oh well, screw it, i wanted a bike!!!

Idiot motorcyclists (squids and chromed-out butt-jewelry riding pirates alike) who ride poorly with little to no gear are the leading causes of death to motorcyclists.
i have to disagree yes the are riders like that but not close to the leading cause, the most dangerous thing to a motorcycle is other drivers that dont pay attention to bikes.

The Hurt report backs you up, but my experience is different.
I have ridden over 100,000 miles on about six bikes over the last twenty years. 65000 miles of it within the last three years. (36,000 of that on my '06 Buell Ulysses, and 29,000 on my '07 BMW R1200GSA.)
My impirical data shows that if you ride defensively, and pay attention, you can avoid 99.999% of the cagers that are trying to kill you while surfing the internet on their phones.
And if you hit the lottery (find that .001% cage) or screw up (like I did in September 2009), wearing good quality gear will save your skin and let you live to ride another day.

Newer gixxers also have a mode switch that will take the power down to the next level for the 750 and 1000cc. Pressing the button cuts the power off one cylinder taking your 750 to a 600 and the 1000 to a 750. Its like having two bikes in one!!! I think even the newer 600 have it also

it was 83 and sunny all day here in Chicago and I had the time of my life
