ive been looking for a cheap dd lately because my 85xj isn't the most reliable... ive replaced almost everything except for the motor and tranny in my xj cause its all been broken. i pulled the 4.0 and tranny out of my wrecked 91 xj last week so i can rebuild it and swap it for the 2.5 i currently have. so now i don't have to hurry and just rig up my xj like i always do cause its my dd...now i can take my time and do everything right cause i picked up a 79 toyota 4x4 for my new dd for 550 bucks! i thought it was a steal of a deal. it runs pretty good just needs some carb tunning some small stuff but hopefully it will serve me well while my jeep is down. i never thought id have a vehicle slower than my 2.5 xj....found one, 79 2.0 yota

 

I drive a 99 xj as a dd and wheel a 95 xj. I have NEVER found anything more reliable! I HATE YOTAS! That's why I'm on a jeep form. Go figure?

 

my 80 toyota was the MOST reliable truck i ever had! i kick my self for selling it every time i have to put oil in my jeep, stop and get out cause its making a weird noise. enjoy your toyota

 

oh and i know what you mean about replacing every thing and still not being reliable

 

ya i get about 50 mpg in my xj....with my oil. lol i love my xj and it goes everywhere but hopefully after the motor tranny tcase swap in it should be reliable. i like toyotas almost as much as jeeps...almost

 

My 85' Yota 4x4 was the best truck I have ever owned, 335k on the odo and only 1 trans in 9 years. Enjoy your truck, I did.
