Default Got some questions about a engine build

This isnt own tech or advanced, or other vehicles. At least I wouldn't categorize it as that. got a 390 I'm rebuilding. Was wondering what prices can I expect from a machine shop to maybe bore it .30 over re surface the cylinders, etc basically. The works on the engine. A port job. Maybe some other stuff. What could I expect for a price?

Last engine I rebuilt was several years ago and iirc about $8 a cylinder for boring.
Your best bet would be to call a local machine shop and ask them.

Also could they get all the rust and grime off and get it ready for paint?

They'll usually hot tank it, so most of the crud will be gone.
Like I said it's been several years since (20). They'll give you a price
over the phone. I called one about a year ago to get a quote to rebulid
my 305 ------------- $1700. I can buy a new crate 350 for $1400.

Well I had planned I rebuilding it mostly by my self just wanted them to clean it up real good, and is do mostly everything else. I found a rebuild kit for under 500 with everything for the shortblock. Just need everything up top. Besides gaskets.

Moved to Other Vehicles only because Off Topic isnt searchable. So if searched this would not come up.
