Just a note to encourage you in your quest for a F-150....This is my all original 1990 GMC K1500. I know it's original because I bought it new in 1990.
400,000 miles and counting.

My dad had a very well maintained E150. He gave it away at 160k though. It had an unknown issue and died but we spent a week in the garage and replaced a bunch of crap and it ran well again. He said that the engine was beginning to get tired. I was like 13 when he gave it away so I dont remember the exact engine but it was the smallest V8 available for a 92. The E150 is a F150 with a different body.

What motor? 4.3 4.6 5.4? auto/stick? The only major issue i know of is the tranny they are notorious for letting go around 150k especially if its on tires and has been beaten. Also wheel bearings, and ball joints are very common on 100k+ f150's. Nothing major tho they are pretty solid. Just expensive to life cuz of that dam IFS(inferior front suspension) also be careful with the 4.6l's if you have it on tires its very easy to tear apart the little rear end they put in the 4.6. The 5.4's is much stronger and its limited slip, 4.6 is open diff same goes for the 6cyl but it dosent have the power to tear the rear end apart.

Once upon a time I had a big green '97, which could practically be a '99. It was an extended cab, auto, 4x4, 4.6 v8, offroad package that included a limited slip rear. I didn't hesitate to buy it with over 200K on the clock but I knew the previous 2 owners personally and knew how well they took care of their stuff. It was smooth as silk and I loved everything about it. Baby #2 surprised us soon after I got it so I sold it to buy a better family vehicle. My friend who bought it is nearing 275K and he says it's still running like a champ, although he's getting some noise from his t-case now.

The 99-2000 4.6 engines had a problem of blowing spark plugs out of the head.

I just picked up a 2000 Expedition with the 4.6V in it. It has 176k on the clock and runs and drives like new. I got it for dirt cheap, it was wrecked. I fixed it all, painted the whole thing. Had the leather seats repaired to new. It's my wifes DD, and I'll be using it to tow the XJ.Originally Posted by jeepdude104

My buddy has a mid 90's 4.6L and he likes it. It's got 150k+ on it. They only problem is it's been poorly maintaned. It's been on death row for so long its became a joke. It needs a new Torque converter and she'll be like new with some more TLC. So i personally think if they were cared for well get it. Enough if TLC is given to the truck u should be all good. If you wanna do work yank a motor n tranny from a totalled abd replace it into the high milage 1 and you good to go

thanks guys! It would be probly a 4.6 auto. (5.4 if lucky) The reason i ask this is because all the ads i have found are with 150-300k and figured if jeeps can handle it then maybe trucks would
