Did you pick up a truck version or a tug version? I believe the trucks were mostly export but the tugs were used by the US Air Force.

Truck:

Tug:

I believe the tugs had Dana 70s with something like 4.88 gearing and though they were 2wd they had a transfercase locked into 4low with no front driveshaft. They used the SD-33 Nissan Diesel that was similar to the Scout SD-33 diesel.

1x1_Speed_Craig on Great Lakes 4x4 seems to be quite knowledgeable and has an Air Force Service manual for the CJ-10a (tug).

I bought this truck because i alway thought they were cool and got a screaming deal on it. (300 bucks no rust ) It needs injector lines and a starter. The drivetrain is all still intact. The rear end is all torn apart like someone broke the ring or pinion. I have a rear 60 that i might just swap in. We'll see. Truck was sitting in the same spot for 3 years before i moved it. Im not having a very easy time finding parts for the rig. Im seriously considering dropping a 4.0 or some other AMC fuely in the truck. It just would be sweet to keep the little diesel...

After looking at this, it doesnt really look like a tug... The wheels are not right behind the cab like the other one...

It's a prototype, the truck has a longer wheelbase.

That's the SD33 non turbo nissan diesel motor with diesel-kiki fuel pump. Go to the nissan dealer and ask for Nissan Patrol '67 - '89 parts. Those units are immortal, they were projected to run continuously in generator sets.
U can ask for International Scout I and II parts as well, same engine.
Fitting the turbo would be a nice upgrade!
