i swapped a d16z6 in to my girlfriends 95 civic hatch from a normal d16 and i know nothing of hondas cause there crap
any way to the problem. it started just fine the first try and idles like a champ sort of sum of the times but as soon as i go to give it throttle it rather A. dies and 1200 rpm or B. dies at 2000 rpm and wont go any higher. this seems to be the constant now. but it revved to 5 gran a few times but wont anymore is this a sensor issue or is it because i went from a non v-tec d16 to a v-tec d16z6? im very confused and i dont know anything about Honda. i really hope its just a sensor issue any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the ecu is going into "limp mode". This could be caused by a number of things such as a bad TPS sensor, distributor, crank position sensor, etc. I would start with the easiest to replace and or cheapest and go from there. Well actually I would start by going over to honda tech and ask there.
