Default 2011 F-150, perfect rig towing truck.

I was shown this in school. and thought while watching these videos about how perfect this is for a rig tower.

Look for these vids.

  • Ford F-150 EcoBoost Torture Test: Logging In Oregon 2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost NASCAR Challenge
  • 2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost "Head to Head" Towing Competition
  • All new Ford F-150 EcoBoost Baja "Hero" Race Truck Trailer

I just still don't trust the ecoboost. I don't have a reason why i just don't like the idea of a twin turbo v6 in a truck. Now as a tow truck I think it's a bad idea. When you say tow truck I think a truck that needs to tow heavy for long amounts of time.

I still thing a cummins is a much better tow truck. My 98 get 23mpg without a trailer and 17 with a light but unaerodynamic box trailer

I'm not brand baised just why not buy the tried and true?

I love that ecoboost. i have personally tested these trucks and they are exactly how they make them sound in those videos. the only reason why i wouldnt get one is that they are around 40k unless i win the lottery

i would love a new truck but for now my 95 150 w/ 302 and tow gears will work fine for my pulling my jeep, but i get terrible mpg. but as long as my mpg is better than my neighbors doughters truck, she has a 97 dodge 1500 4x4 w/ 360 sitting on 33"s going to 37"s

I've heard of alot of Eco Boost owners being disappointed by gas milage when they are actually used to carry a load or tow. From what Ive been told, Its no better then any of the V8s when actually used like a truck should be. Plus have you every tried to service an Ecoboost? I have, and will never try that again.

Mopar or no car for me, Dodge makes the best trucks on the market in my opinion.

I agree to a point. Diesel wise yes I can still completely work on a 6.7 cummins without to much hassle. Now the powerstroke or duramax is just a pain in the ***. I do however think the chevy 5.3 is a great motor and ford has a nice interior.

I think that the ecoboost should have been though 300k not 150k to see a real test.

I read and followed the Ultimate 4x4 adventure build of the ecoboost in the f150 and the power delivery and ride manners all seemed to be focal points of the reviews during the multi park run in the rig. Def seemed to hold its own.

For what it is, the EcoBoost is a good motor from what I hear. it's not efficient under load, but it would be nice to have as a third vehicle that doesn't get reprehensible mileage when it's being highway driven. For example: my parents have an 01 f250 with a 330. It gets used to tow the Shoal Runner, the tractor, and the occasional hay wagon. But when it's being driven as a back-up (like when I hit the deer with my Jeep) it would be hella nice to get better than 12mpg...

My dads 2011 dodge ram 1500 with 5.7l hemi and outdoors man package is a beast. Its super fast (breaks tires loose with LSD) rockets with a 19' camp trailer. We've gone 130mph in a few sections of the canyon in it. The gas mileage is great when We drive it normally we get an average of 18-20mpg city and Highway Only mod is the exhaust and it seems like its getting better mpg's.
