hey, whats up CF
Along side of my 89 XJ
I own a 1997 mercury mountaineer which is my DD and two nights ago
i changed the front brake pads that ive done countless
times before, but this time, when i went to take it for a test
drive the pedal kept going all the way to the floor.
I even had my dad come and check over my work
and he couldent find anything i did wrong

i figured the master cylinder went out
so i went and swapped that too
and i still have the same problem
Can anyone help me??

Nothing was seized up, and everything was pretty clean
i just did the rear pads, and its still the same.
could it have something to do with the ABS?

Possible air in the brake lines? That's the only thing i can think of. Does it still stop with the pedal all the way to the floor?

...break fluid does get worn down just like oil and trans fluid...
...worn rotors/drums will cause excessive pedal travel...
...leak in resivor(sp) cap/seal...

also check look for distrubution blocks and under frame connections for leaks
