Hi everybody! I have the opprotunity to pick up a 1987 MJ, but my dad said that the 4.0 from 1987 was unreliable, and that the parts for it are next to impossible to come across. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

 

Tell your dad he is nuts and buy the Commanche already! Seriously, if I could come across one for the right price, I would scoop it up in a heartbeat.
Yea, parts aren't the easiest to find but they are still out there.

 

do it if anything all you have to do is buy a new style 4.0 and drop it in there change a little wiring and bam your good to go comanches are sweet rigs do it do it do it

 

the 4.0 is one of the most reliable engines out there.

 

buy it,parts are easy to find,I have found everything I have needed at www.teamcherokee.com they have all the hard to find parts for older jeeps of all models.

 

an MJ with a 4.0 get that NOW. those suckers are rare and if you have any issues most of them have been adressed and parts are close as any XJ or YJ

buy it now there is no reason not to get that MJ and screw the clutch swap just put in a remaned AX15

 

I would not even hesitate if i had the cash. Usually they just show up on CL and I cannot resist. Dont even care what shape they are in. (i have 4 87, 88, 89, 91)
