'01 Chevy Prizm-hard to get out of Park
2001 Chevy Prizm auto trans: I sometime have trouble getting it to shift out of Park. I think the safety lockout(whatever its called) is messed up. Is there any way of bypassing it?

Not sure on bypassing but make sure the brake lamp switch is working properly. IF checking by yourself, back up to a wall so you can see the brake lamps reflecting when you hit the pedal.
I am sure there is probably an easy way to bypass the lockout, you probably just need to remove the console/shifter bezel and take a look.
