Cool Hood Induction How to

  1. OK I did this to keep the 4.0 cooler which in fact after I was done. it did run around from 10 to 20 degree's cooler. This took me a day to do. First thing remove the hood from the vehicle.
  2. I used a metal disc to cut along the rim from the back to the front.
  3. Drill out the spot welds underneath the back of the hood were the panel is folded over the frame of the hood and then undo the fold with a flat tip screwdriver.
  4. I used a piece of wood to set the height and measured both sides at 1" and then made temp plates and then cut sheet metal and tacked it in. Name: 100.jpg

  5. When welding remember to keep it cool or else the hood will warp from the shrinking and look terrible. A wet rag helps or switch from one side to the other with each tack. I also made four small reinforcements for the hood vent shaped like a "H" and welded those it Name: 098.jpg

  6. Grind all the welds down
  7. I used short hair fiberglass filler to get a natural looked shape. Started sanding with 80 and worked to 180 wrapped around a piece of radiator hose. Name: 103.jpg

  8. Then used smooth flow putty to get the imperfections out. sanded with 500 and worked up higher till you barley see any scratches. Name: 107.jpg
