Default ZJ Transmission interchange thread

It probably does exist already, Ive found info on this myself, even posted some of it, and forgot already the specifics and where to re-find it. So it would be easier to just have a tranny exclusive fact thread, strength/reliability, the interchanges, computer compatibility, drive shaft needs, flywheel needs and torque converter needs. I'll start in reference to what I know of 93 -98 ZJ trannies. Please correct any bad info for me.
These are still based on the old 904 and 727 torque flight trannies
The 46R was used in 93-95 V8 grand Cherokees. based on 727
The 42 RE was used in 6 cyl grand Cherokees. based on 904
The 44RE was used in 96 to 98 V8 Grand Cherokees, based on 904, just a beefed up 42RE.
The 46RE was used in 98 Grand Cherokees with a 5.9 engine only, based on the 727.

The AW4 came behind the 4.0 I'm the early 93 grand cherokees, but it's not common to find.
but otherwise what you have seems correct to me.

Its just the tip of the iceberg as far as the tranny info goes. I found a 98 with a 46RE at a pull your own part junkyard, wanting to put that behind a 94 Dodge truck motor in a 5.2 grand Cherokee with a slipping when you accelerate hard 44RE. Could easily find a 46R but would lose some advantages and I assume it wouldn't work with the computer. Wish I had enough money to buy one of each and try each one to just know, lol. BTW the 5.9 is not much more torque and Horse Power than the 5.2 but the curve is different I think it comes on sooner, making more stress on a weak 44RE. That's why I wish there were more stickys with only facts to find all this stuff easier. I could see the tech section being further separated into sub categories but I know that's work for someone.
