OK, so I have a buddy with a ZJ, and he is wanting to get rid of the 249 AWD t-case in it, in exchange for a 231. It is a 1998, auto, 5.2 liter V8 ZJ. What cases should he be looking at for the best swap here? I just do not know what will bolt up to that tranny, so help a buddy out here, please!! Thanks in advance guys!!

people usually go with a 231 or 242, iirc all you have to do is swap the imput.

Not sure Frank, it is the auto tranny from a 98 zj with a 5.2 if that helps you at all. IDK spline counts or anything. We do not have it pulled yet, because we are trying to track down a t-case first. It is not mine, so I know very little about it, honestly. Any input is appreciated!!

You can also contact BigDave on MallCrawlin or co4x4. He's done the swap too.

Tons of 'em! I joined Mallcrawlin when I need to ask some questions regarding cam lobe dimension and geometry questions. I'm not a regular over there.

If you own a Grand.....Mallcrawlin is a requirement. If it has been done it is on there.

But Mallcrawlin isn't the place for basic newb questions... Just remember that.
