ZJ Grand Cherokee 5.2L
hello all,
i am a new member here as i was recently given a 1995 Grand Cherokee with a 5.2L in it. the vehicle sat for about 3 years without a battery in it and without moving.
when i went to connect a battery to it yesterday the low beams were flashing alternate of each other and the 4 ways were going as well, almost as if a car alarm were going off but without noise. i have never owned a jeep before and am a bit perplexed by this. it ran fine but there was a "security" light on the dash.
any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
thank you,
Sean

Welcome to the forum.
The vehicle security system will always do the actions described when the battery is reconnected.
While flashing the vehicle is prevented from starting.
The security system may be returned to normal status either by using the infrared remote control to unlock the vehicle, or by using the key to unlock the door, in any of the three door lock cylinders. Note that a common issue is the key cylinder unlock switch fails to disarm the alarm. Fortunately there are three cylinders / switches and I have not yet heard of a vehicle where all three have failed.
