Default Wont go in gear

My 94 ZJ won't go in gear unless I fully start it, the shut it off and put it in the on position put it in neutral then restart it. Any time it's in park I have to do this and I'm getting tired of having to start my jeep twice just to drive. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Can you not just put it in on then move it to neutral? I dont really see why you need to start it then shut it off then put it in neutral, check the switch on your brake pedal, if its not working to tell the computer your foot is on the brake it wont let you shift from park.

It won't shift into anything unless I start it the shut it off. I will look at the brake censor or fuse when I get a chance I never thought about that
