Default WJ Grand Cherokee Cam Position Sensor issue

Long story short I had a stupid moment and pulled the cam position sensor. I've also been told this is the distributor. I finally got it running but I can smell that it's running rich and still have a P0353 code.

Is it safe to run like this? At least to where I can get it fixed or does someone know a way to get it back to the way it should be?

I have a high school friend who's dad is a mechanic at the local Chrysler dealership. He told me it was the distributor and it was out of time. He's currently looking for a required tool to fix it, but he hasn't actually checked my Jeep yet.

Would it be safe to drive it to him? I'm used to my old Eclipse that you NEVER drive when there is a timing issue otherwise the valves will get fused into the pistons.

For clarification it's a 2000 Grand Cherokee 4.0L.

Sorry if this was answered previously, I couldn't find anything relating to my specific problem.

Should also mention that after an oil change and trying to replace oil pressure sending unit, new one didn't read at all, I put the old one back, and now the needle is reading 80, any ideas?

Wrong ignition timing won't fuse the valves to the pistons, that would be the cam timing on an interference engine like what the Eclipse has. If you're smelling raw fuel in the exhaust you shouldn't drive it too far or you'll damage the catalytic converter and could possibly load the crankcase with fuel. How far does he live from you?

Roughly 17 miles if I take it to him at the dealership, otherwise I don't mind bringing him here in the spare vehicle. I was honestly hoping it would be drivable to get out of the spare vehicle. I'm still waiting for him to find the tool, any idea what tool it is?
