I am replacing some head gaskets on my friends 99 WJ 4.7. It has 244k miles on it which seems really good from what I have read. I saw a picture on the Dakota forum with the head removed and the intake manifold still installed. Do I really not need to remove the intake manifold? Also read something about a cam wedge tool being used so I wouldn't have to remove the front cover.?.? I took this job in part to learn more about the 4.7 which my 04 WJ has. Thanks in advance.

To answer my own question. If you are only removing one cylinder head, it would be possible but the intake comes off very easily so just remove it.
