I believe it's a 26570/r16 which is around 30.5 inches
but you will get some rubbing.

Here's a tire conversion calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

hey, dropping in from the XJ side! howdy yall! as for width, you can go pretty wide, but back spacing needs to be increased as well as wheel adapters if going real wide. if stock, then my 235/75r15's with wrangler dura tracks will rub my drivers side LCA at full lock and when really flexin i can rub up around the flare at top of wheel well. (the flare for where the coil sits) but its not that bad.
i use this a lot:

I'm running 255 70/ 16 on mine. They rub the inner fenders when turning sharp.
It's at stock height and have been meaning to put 2" pucks in and I believe it'll
clear.

Sorry to bump up a post from many months back, but I felt it was best to ask my question in this thread instead of creating a new one.

I see that the max tire size people have recommended has been the r16, so is it not possible to put r17 tires on a 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo?

Because the tires on them right now need to get replaced and someone near me is basically giving away a set of 245/70-R17 tires. Would I be able to use those on the 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo?

I had 30x9.5 tires on my 96 ZJ, just a tiny bit of rubbing at full flex. Though it has the factory "Up Country" suspension package which is about 1" lift.
