Getting the blown rear main seal replaced at the end of the week. The transmission will be getting a new filter and all new seals, since it is coming out anyway.

Anything else y'all would recommend dealing with at the same time?

You know the transmission doesn't need to come out to replace the rear main right?

Errr... wait, just saw I was in the GC forum. What motor do you have?

Changing the filter and all the seals.

I'm paying to have the rear main replaced, since I don't have the space/tools to do it.

I don't have the cash to do that and rebuild the transmission. Honestly if this thing were having transmission issues along with the rear main I'd send it to Pull A Part.

Anytime the tranny is out, it is always cheap insurance to at least change the seals even if they are still good. It is a major pain in Bullwinkle's ***** to pull the tranny just for a $9 input shaft seal!

Yeah, I've got all the transmission seals and a new filter kit.

i just replaced mine on my 96. it's a two piece. while i had the oil pan down i also replaced the oil pump and screen...

edit: i just double checked... 93-98 5.2 are two piece.... it's not a bad job at all, once you get the oil pan off.

Yep, you were right, the transmission shop was wrong. It is a two piece seal. Just sold the thing about an hour ago.
