I had a common problem that a lot of WJ owners have...My jeep randomly stopped indicating left until it finally stopped a few weeks ago.

I read it could be the flasher relay so being the cheapest, easiest fix I thought I'd give it a go.

When I started this thread I had no idea what to do or where to begin.

Just over 1 hour later I finally had this problem fixed!

I've been having a few problems with the wjjeeps site, but it seems to be working now...

So it looks like I do have to take the dash off to get to it and I take it it's the relay highlighted?

 

All fixed!

The relay is in the most ridiculous place ever! You have to take off two parts of the dash. See 4 & 5 on http://www.wjjeeps.com/interiortrim.htm

You have to get on floor level and look up above the fuses and its the big blue relay in the middle.

All I did was pull it out, give the connections a wipe with a clean cloth and put it back in.

Indicator worked straight away after permanently not working for the last few weeks.

I have no skill when it comes to working on cars so anyone can do this fix. Took me about 40 mins but I did have to keep refering to the net to make sure I didn't snap something off!

 

If, like me, you only suffer this fault once every few weeks and can't be bothered to dismantle your dashboard here's the temporary fix.

When the indicators fail set the stalk up or down (left or right turn), switch on the hazard lights (one flash is enough) then switch them off. The indicator will continue to flash.

Well, until it packs up again

 

I had to do that a few weeks ago with my turn signals. I pulled the module and resoldered the PCB to base connections with some real solder (non-ROHS). I will probably never have that problem again.
