- Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining .
- Loosen (but do not remove at this time) the four fan hub-to-water pump pulley mounting nuts. NOTE: The engine accessory drive belt must be removed prior to removing the fan.
- Remove engine drive belt as follows:
- Loosen two rear power steering pump mounting bolts A.
Fig. 6 Bracket Mounting Bolts - 4.0L Engine
- Loosen upper pump pivot bolt B and lower lock nut C.
- Loosen pump adjusting bolt D until belt can be removed.
- Remove belt.
- Check condition of all pulleys.
- The power steering pump must be removed from its cast mounting bracket to gain access to bolt E. Bracket mounting bolt E is located behind the power steering pump.
- Remove two bolts A.
- Remove locknut C and belt adjustment bolt D.
- Remove bolt B. Position power steering pump to the side. Hold pump in position with wire. Do not disconnect hydraulic lines from pump.
- Remove bolts E, F and G and remove pump mounting bracket.
- Remove idler pulley mounting bolt and remove idler pulley. This must be done to gain clearance for the water pump mounted heater hose fitting when water pump is being removed.
WARNING: Constant tension hose clamps are used on most cooling system hoses. When removing or installing, use only tools designed for servicing this type of clamp; such as special clamp tool (# 6094). Snap-on clamp tool (# HPC-20) may be used for larger clamps. Always wear safety glasses when servicing constant tension clamps .

CAUTION: A number or letter is stamped into the tongue of constant tension clamps. If replacement is necessary, use only an original equipment clamp with matching number or letter.
- Remove lower radiator hose from water pump. Remove heater hose from water pump fitting.
- Remove the four fan hub-to-water pump pulley mounting nuts.
- Remove the two fan shroud-to-upper radiator crossmember attaching nuts.
- Remove the fan assembly and fan shroud (together as one unit) from the vehicle.
- Remove the four pump mounting bolts and remove pump from vehicle. Discard old gasket. Note that one of the four bolts is longer than the other bolts.
- If pump is to be replaced, the heater hose fitting must be removed. Note position of fitting before removal.

as for the RTV, i recommend putting a thin coat on bot sides of the waterpump gasket and let it sit for about 10 minutes before you re install it..(this is after you clean off all the old gasket from the block ofcourse)

i dont have the specs near me, but use a short 3/8 rachet to tighten it. you want it tight, but you dont want to crank down on it

For the '94 4.0L, the water-pump bolts should be torqued to 22 ft. lbs.
It doesn't give a torque spec. for the power steering pump mounting bolts in the manual. It simply states to "tighten securely".
Hope that's helpful.
