Default Water pump pulley any tricks?

This project started as a bad gasket leak on my water pump. I have tried the book routine but keep running into blockers. I rented the special pulley wrench I have the big wrench but can not break it free. The book said remove the fan shroud that would work but mine has an additional electric fan on it. So that wont come out , tried taking the waterpump loose and pulling everything out at once but no room. Left with that damn fan and need some knowledge on getting it off. Thanks for any help.

Sure you turned it the right direction? I've run across that setup on Fords (fan & clutch assembly fit on a large threaded hub on the water pump, right?) and it is usually a left-hand thread. Screws me up mightily until I remember that...

Failing that, you could try the "impact approach" (smack the wrench on the hub with a hammer,) but if the pully assembly is held by the screw heads, you'll probably end up replacing the screws as well. It's a "sacrificial" method, but it's been known to work. Try turning it the other way first, tho.

pretty sure it is counter clockwise. Put a BIG wrench on it and SMACK it with a hammer to break it loose

X2. The manual states you should turn it counter-clockwise.
