So I'm putting a new belt on since the old one shredded on me. I notice there's a piece of torn belt wedged behind the water pump pulley that's completely wrapped around and isn't moving. So I take off the fan/shroud and pull the water pump pulley off and notice that the whole shaft coming out of the water pump is bouncing around. I can pull it in and out and rotate it like a joystick. There was also water coming out of the center. I put this pump on two years ago when the old one started leaking. Does it sound like another pump will fix it or did I break anything else?

 

Should be just the pump. The bad pump caused the belt to shear, or vice versa. You'll see if anything else is damaged upon removal. IMO
