Turn my keys, nothing happens HELP!
I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo. I put my keys in the ignition and turn them half way and my mileage comes on, I hear the ding-ding..my wind shield wipers work and everything but my gauges.. And when i go to start my truck nothing happens, no noise or anything.. Any ideas?
Sorry if this doesn't describe much, im just a little irate right now!
If ANYONE has any suggestions please post or email me, Thanks a ton!

If it is not A fuse check the starter solenoid.Test power to starter and the start wire on the solenoid when in the start position. Battery terminal should be hot all the time and the smaller start thermal only when the key is on start.
This wiring diagram link has been a huge help It is a great post from this site. http://www.scribd.com/doc/10078577/J...ring-diagrams-
Do not forget to check your grounds.
Good luck

You may have a bad ignition switch. I have a separate button wired to the starter that the previous owner installed due to intermittent switch failure. Sometimes it starts with the key, sometimes nothing. These are known for this, my cousin has the same issue and solution... albeit a bit ghetto, but it works. Turn key to on position and hit button to start, still need key, it's not a bypass.

My 01 GC Laredo did the same thing to me, twice. Drove somewhere, turned her off, came back out and turned the key, and nothing. No lights no click no nothing. Turned out it was the positive terminal clamp on the battery. Took it off, cleaned it really good and has not done it since.
I also thought it was a fuse or a relay but when trying to jump start it, all the lights came on when I wiggled the POS battery terminal. All is well now.

^X2. If not you can look in the Power Distribution Center under the hood. It's that black box near the battery. It holds relays and fuses. There's a relay for the starter in there. On the underside of the box's lid is a diagram of what's inside and their location.
