Default Transmission Temperature - WJ

Well I got my tranny temp gauge installed. I actually put in two senders, one in the return line from the cooler and one in the pan. Put a switch next to the gauge to switch between the two.

Here are my first observations, the return line temp and the pan temp are really close in normal round town driving. Will find out what they do on a long road drive this weekend.

They appear to average around 150 degrees in mid 70s weather.

Anyone know what they should be for optimum transmission performance and life?

I don't have an answer to your question, but rather a question for you. I was thinking about putting a trans temp gauge on my GC. Which one did you use?

130 to 170 is best. you may see higher then that in town stopping and starting, on the highway I bet its like 130 with the TC locked up.
