I am looking at a 1995 grand Cherokee with 160,000 miles. Motor is strong but there is a slip in the transmission from 1st to 2nd. If you start in 2nd there is very little slip.
The guy said the transmission line was fixed with a rubber line and is leaking and causes a loss of fluid.
Worse case scenario is the tranny is bad. Would it be worth putting in a rebuilt tranny? I can pick up this jeep for $1000.
By the way, this is the 4.0 6cyl.
Thanks! I'm hoping to be a jeep owner soon!

Well, this is NE Ohio, so it has the typical rocker rust under the doors, but other than that, the body seems pretty decent. It also needs an axel seal and bearing, but I am more concerned with the unknown of the slip in the tranny.
