Trailer brake power
2014 grand Cherokee Laredo. I am hooking up aftermarket tow package. Dealership flashed computer for lights but said they could not do trailer brake until controller was installed. Does the controller need to be plugged in to activate power to plug under dash. They want to charge me twice.

The brake controller is required to supply electrical power through the blue brake wire, out the trailer plug connector, to the electrical trailer brakes.
