Default tire sizes? fitment & metric BS

ive been doing some searching lately because ill be buying new tires soon, i have been getting very mixed answers around what size tire you can fit without a lift, I currently have 245/70/16's and they look ok, but it also looks like there is plenty of room to get something bigger, i think 245/75/16 would be the next step up, but i park my jeep next to a rig with a set of those and i know i could go another step or two, i was hinking about some 31x10.50's but im not sure ive heard a lot of different stories around the 31's, ive had people tell me i can fit 31's stock, it looks like i could, and ive had people tell me they could barely even squeeze them in with a 2" BB, Basically i just want to know whats the biggest i can run stock, and if anyone has pictures of said tire size on a stock rig.

So you have aftermarket wheels? XJ's come with 15in wheels FYI.

With stock suspension 31" will be a little tight. With a 2" bb and 3" bs rims you should be fine depending on what kind of wheeling you do. I got 31" and 3" bs and trimmed the fenders.

and yes i have aftermarket 16" wheels and i hate them, they look stupid, and being 16's tires are a ***** price wise.

Without any info we don't know if you posted in the wrong place or if you have a ZJ or WJ. The trim level makes a difference too.

The up country package sits a little higher.

Ahh I see, but back to my original question, what is the largest tire I could fit? im willing to do some minor trimming but I dont really want to completely hack it up because this jeep is actually really nice and clean and I'd like to keep it that way.

30-9.50-15 for little to no trimming, but that is about the same size as the 245-75-16 you're running now. 31-10.50-15 will require some trimming and they may still rub.
