Default Thinking about buying a grand Cherokee

I just sold my cherokee and am thing in about a 2001 or newer grand Cherokee. Only thing making me hesitate is that I have heard alot about their electrical issues. What do you guys know about this? What are some common issues that they have? Are they easy to repair?

My uncle had an early 2000 model. Something went wrong with the AC, they had to remove the dash and it ended up costing him more than $2000 I'm pretty sure.

I forget what other issues he said it had. But yeah, basically the electronics were all crap.

Our '04 has 87,000+ miles since we bought it new and except for the brake recall problems, and having the trans TCM reflashed by the dealer under warranty, we've had no problems with it and love it.

I've owned several Grands between family members we've probably have owned around 8-9 in the past 10 years.

They're easy to work on and not to bad. The 99-04 like to eat water pumps from time to time, but other than that you can't kill the 4.0

Default 2000 Grand Cherokee

I own a 97 and 2000 Grand cherokee I love them Both, The only trouble that I have had with my 2000 is the electric fan and water pump in the 4 years that I have owned it. my only advice is that I would try to stay with the 4.0 motor. It is Bullet Proof and cheep and easy to fix and now with the cash for clunkers deal the salvage yards are full of Grand cherokees.

Easy to fix as long as you like working on them yourself.
