For some reason my rear tail lights turn off when i press on my brakes. and my brakes dont work when I do that. Any ideas whats going on? or where i can get some cheap new lights?

I changed the bulbs twice but hasnt helped.

 

have you check the brake switch under the pedal?

 

This is a very common problem in the WJ's (99-04)

It is your taillight housings...the circuit board in them goes bad and...BAM. you have screwy lights.

I found the best fix is to pick up a new PAIR (with sockets) off of eBay.

Do a search and you will find several sellers, one or two have free shipping.

While you are waiting for your package to arrive, run to auto parts store and pick up (6) bulbs. Why SIX? The WJ's use the same bulb for each of the sockets. The nuber to look for is a 3157 I recommend Sylvania 3157LL (long life)

I HAD to do BOTH as one was cracked and the other crapped out.
If you cannot find a pair w/sockets RockAuto has them for less than $4 ea.
