went to climb some stuff yesterday and the first thing I hit I heard a loud popping noise from my tc like the gears were stripping... so I'm thinking it crap should I get another 249 or do the 231 swap??????

check it first. drain the fluid and take the cover off and check it. you might've just bent the cover in and its hitting your gears. that's just my 2 cents, it might be stripping like you say. just check it first before you go stripping everything out and possibly "fixin' somethin if it ain't broke"
