Default steering gear box

Is there an upgrade for the 99 GC. I'm going to have to replace mine sometime in the near future (tired of the wandering and everything else has been replaced). And yes, I've tried adjusting it. It helped some but, not enough.

The only upgrade/mod I could find for the WJ box was for hydro assist. http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/sho...1&postcount=27

Thanks for the link Blue. I'll probably just replace with a new/rebuilt unit. This thing
"wandering" never gives you any rest while in traffic.

That's odd. We bought our '04 WJ w/V8 and AWD, and it now has 112,000+ miles on it. It doesn't have that issue. In fact, the steering is as dead on as when new. It's always been serviced by the dealer, and all routine maintenance has been done, but none of the parts have ever been replaced. My brother has an '04 w/the 4.0L & the 242 t-case w/around 52,000 actual miles, and he's had issues with his steering. He's had to have his steering gear (twice), pump (twice), and lines (twice) replaced under warranty. There's even a recall for several of the years of the WJ's for the steering box. >->http://www.wjjeeps.com/recall.htm

That would be my luck. It's got close to 177K and I've owned for almost 3 yrs.
Knew very little about 4wd when I bought it, feel like I know even less now.

Same for me. I knew little about 4WD until we got our WJ, then later I picked up a mint ZJ. Unfortunately my son needed a second vehicle, so I sold him the ZJ. We still have a Saturn Vue V6 AWD w/80,000 miles though. Great on gas, but I miss my ZJ.
