I was having some issues with my transmission, like it was "double shifting" really fast between 2nd and 3rd.

My jeep is a 1996 grand cherokee laredo 4.0l. and i was curious to know whether it had a separate computer for the transmission or not. I phoned the jeep dealer and spoke to a 20 year mechanic, and the first thing he said was"Did it get sent in to the dealer for the recall in 2006?"

Obviously I didn't know if it did or not so I had them run the VIN number and they said it didn't...

All said and done the recall was basically flash the PCM.

My jeep shifts flawless even under heavy load, and at 260,000 kilos.
