I just got a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L. I was removing the battery, and noticed that there is a small wire connector coming out of a harness next to the battery tray, and it isn't plugged into anything. It's not very long, and I don't see any place for it to plug into. Just curious if anybody knows what it goes to.

Well not at all familiar with a '95 ZJ and while the connector looks a little small wondering if it is a batter temp sensor connector.
I am seeing a hole in the battery tray which looks like it could be for the temp sensor.
My '00 XJ has one but also under the impression that they were not on some of the earlier Jeeps so.....

There is a "large" ~1" empty hole and a small screw hole on the inner fender lip, near the rubber bumper.
The factory put a hood closed detection switch at that location, tied into the alarm.
That 0468 8469 switch would eventually become flaky and cause the alarm to sound randomly. That switch is currently made from unobtainium.
The dangling connector is intended to plug into that missing hood switch.

Thank you very much! Makes sense, and I see that hole now. Guess I should be grateful it's missing, lol.Originally Posted by wingless
