I've been asking the same question about rain. I've got cats saying there are no negative side effects of rain. I guess it also depends on the kind of vents too. When I can flip the money for them. I'm getting these.

If I had to make this decision again I would not install them. The wet weather does effect things like the tps sensor and other wiring. The reduction of heat can be seen on any day any season (through the vents) but the temp guage has not shown a change. So no I would not install them.

did you have an over heating problem and the gauge showed no improvement? or does you truck run at a certain temp and it showed no improvement?

I had no problems other than I had a set of vents sitting in the garage and a day of nothing to do. So I cut my minorly damaged hood and now regret it.

i was having high temp issues and it ended up being a bad radiator. I swapped it out for a new one from autozone along with new hoses and a new 190 thermo and it runs at 190 now instead of 210. I still want to do hood vents because the temps went up to 220 while wheeling in mud last weekend. I kept going through the same area of mud but real slow and the temps came right back down when the the thermostat opened up. But yeah, vents would help the little 5.2 with under hood temps.

The extra cooling would be nice. I guess it depends if you even put the hood under water

Yeah and if your to the point where waters over the hood waters already in the engine compartment whether or not you have vents and as far as rain you can always just make pans to either direct it into "safe" areas or just away from what your scared of breaking there's a bunch of guys on here who've already done this and i'm doing the le baron vents when i can find some.

210 is normal opperating temp for most jeep 4.0s. How high dose it get with the AC on?

Cool

I lifted the back of my hood. I just stacked a couple washers between the henge and the hood. Only picked up about 1/4 inch, but made a big difference. I have the 5.2, and she gets real hot some times. Occasionally if Im out wheelin and she starts getting hot I'll just pop the hood. If your not going fast there's no reason it can't be open.
